The Terror Blame Game

Politico’s Mike Allen notes that while Repub blame the new (Obama) administration for the X-Mas day Terror plot, “Republican lawmakers, candidates, pundits and commentators — and the Bush administration — blamed the CLINTON administration for 9/11.” In other words, Republicans can’t have it both ways.

Well, not exactly.

1) The 9/11 attacks took place in early September of the new administration, vs. The X-Mas day thing took place in late December of a new administration, which gave the Obama people 2 and a half more months to take ownership of America’s intelligence systems and community.

2) Team Bush took over an America which had a destroyed intelligence community and a country that was zero-to-none focused on fighting terror, therefore it is open for debate how much more Bush’s people should or could have done to increase America’s terror vigilance, in time to stop 9/11. Team Obama however, scaled back dramatically the terror war, therefore anything and everything that takes place on this front is clearly the blame or credit of the new administration.

3) I agree that 9/11 is clearly the fault of Team Clinton, and I have a hard time getting my Dem friends to agree with me on this. So… If Dems blame the X-mas incident on Bush in exchange for finally admitting that Clinton is responsible for the 9/11 attacks that killed 2,700 people, then I am all ready to agree that Bush is responsible for the NWA incident.

In conclusion: ignoring and/or downplaying the terror threat only increases the possibility of more terror attacks, regardless which administration is at the helm of the USA.

    Good Point.

can someone please explain these Democrats that they can’t have it both ways either: they can’t blame Bush for both, 9-11 and for the Xmas day attack. so, or clinton or obama they have to agree failed on homeland security.
