Following are Republican Primary numbers of the Orthodox Jewish/Hasidic communities in the Central Monsey/Spring Valley areas of Rockland County. The numbers are based on the Rockland County Board of Election Results (Available here), as of election night 1:30 AM, but was not updated by them at the time of this post.
- A total 401 voted, which is approxx 8% of the 5,017 Republicans who voted in all of Rockland County, and it is 17% turnout of the 2,400 active/accurate Registered Jewish Republicans in the above areas.
- 334 voted in the House Primary. Kleinhandler got 307 votes (91%), and Mele got 27 (less than 9%). of the aproxx 6,500 who voted in NY-1-7, Kleinhandler is considered to be the winner by a 200-vote, 2% margin, which means the Orthdox/Hasidic Community in rocklans gave him the Republican nod.
- 328 voted in Senate Primary. Of it, 257 (79%) voted for DioGuardi; Malpass got 53, and only 18 voted for the (Rockland) GOP Establishment candidate Blakeman. This – and the fact that most went with DioGuardi – shows that the Rockland establishment has (almost) zero pull in the Jewish Community.
NOTE: The Mele people were officially against the establishment, but they didn’t add many votes for DioGuardi in the Jewish areas, considering that Mele got only 27 votes which was all over the map on the Senate side.

UPDATE: as of Saturday Night, Mele is ahead by almost twelve votes. Absentee Ballots are expected to be counted in a few days from now.
UPDATE II: As of Wednesday September 22, 2010, Mele Is ahead by 60-70 votes on the Republican Line, which proves once again that the (Rockland) Republican Leadership is WORTHLESS!
