Levi Aron Was Normal Until…

I am probably stating the obvious, but it is totally crazy (yet expected…) that Levi Aron’s attorneys are claiming that the accused killer of the #BPBoy is not fit to stand trial.

This guy was normal enough to marry; to divorce; to move back and forth between two states; hold jobs in both places; drive on his own; pay bills; remember to participate in a wedding fifty miles aways; but unfit to stand trial after a crime was done?

You can make the case that a sane person would not do to Leiby Kletzky what Aron apparently did (or that Aron turned insane after his attack.) But… Which sane person would do to people what the Nazis did to Jews seventy years ago? Yet, no one would claim that Hitler or his henchmen need to get mercy because they are ‘insane.’

The rest is self understood.

    I wouldn’t say that the actions of the general Nazi “henchmen”, as you refer to them, were particularly insane. The majority of them were acting out of self-interest, fueled by a supposed supernationalism and a gang mindset. They didn’t necessarily hate Jews because they believed that there was some innate nastiness related to being Jewish. They followed orders in order to protect their lives, to advance themselves, to gain favor, and to make sure that they were the ones in charge. This is not an excuse or an attempt to gain mercy for the people who participated in the extermination of millions upon millions of people. It is just simply to say that their behavior wasn’t so insane.

    Great yossi! yes we have something for people like aron who can’t stand a trial its called JAIL Its made specially for people like him.

    Not great, Moshe! Jail isn’t made for people who cannot stand trial.

    yup Burech Miller i love to see that every murder (only after the crime) is crazy & can’t stand a trial if he is so crazy that he is killing other people he should go under bars even without a trial to make sure he isn’t doind again this kind of craziness.

    That isn’t how our judicial system works. The person is not a murderer until they are found guilty of the crime. Only then are they able to be put into prison. Jail, which is different from prison, is used to hold those suspected of violent crimes prior to trial, as well as those convicted of various misdemeanors.

    I don’t understand you Burech Miller someone that said i killed this boy & police saw everything there still need a trial mashiga!!! no trial rat in prison! no answer I’m crazy that’s y i did it, if he is crazy he should be in prison & not around with people.

    I don’t understand you. Admission of guilt is not the same as pleading guilty, so a trial must still take place, and a tril is something that is guranteed by Article 3 of the Constitution, expanded upon and explained in the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution. If you prefer to live in a place where everyone the police suspect of being guilty is locked away, then perhaps you could pack your bags and rush over to Iran, as that seems to be the mode of justice there.

    If, however, you prefer to live in a country that protects the rights of individuals, then you should allow him to be tried, with the evidence uncovered by police and others who will testify, and allow him to be found guilty. I do agree that, if he is insane, he should be locked away.
