Dozens in Dark and Sweat During Shabbos in Spring Valley, NY

The sweltering heat hit many Jewish Areas in Upstate New York. Among them was Spring Valley where parts of Francis, Zeissner, Charles, Morris Road, Yale Drive, Dorset and Widman Court were without power from approximately 5:00 Friday afternoon until approximately 8:30 Friday Evening.

Residence at the newly built Bluefield Road – off Union Road and off Widman Court – also in Spring Valley, were without power from Friday afternoon all through Shabbos afternoon 3:00 PM.

Crews from the local Orange and Rockland utility company said that transformers were not built to accommodate the recent population expansion of the area. However locals claim that the Utility Firm needs to upgrade the power flow considering that O&R collects more in energy bills in recent years.

I was by friends house on Bluefield Dr. for shabbos, and we were left without power , we ate the shabbos seuda to light of the shabbos candles, and we were sweating away, shabbos morning we had someone from shul invites us over to his house to eat the seuda, we also slept there after the seuda, later when we walked to shul we saw that the light were turned on already, shame on O&R for not responding to a power outage during shabbos when we were not able to call and put pressure on them every minute because it’s shabbos.

Mr. Simon, I’m glad you tried to enjoy on Shabbos & you made the best out of it, however:
O&R got multiple calls from a lot of outages, & they HAVE. To respond 1st to areas that efect more people then on Bluefield, whare only 12 Units where shut off,
After all they did come to fix it on Shabbos…..
