At the time of this writing, the White House responded to six separate issues that people petitioned the President through the WH program “We the People.” Four of the six responses, representing 288,004 signatures, were negative and the two other responses with a total of only 46,179 signatures, were welcomed by the WH Staff.
The strongest issue is to legalize Marijuana with 151,400 signatures. The second is a request that the government should review the grave injustices done against Sholom Rubashkin, the former boss of Agriprocessors. It has 52,226 signatures. “Remove under God from the Pledge” and “God” from the currency has a total of 36,602 names. “Take action to reduce student loans” has 32,008 supporters. 14,171 want DOMA repealed and 5,597 want Obama to back a fair tax system.
Only the student loan and the DOMA issues received a positive response. On the first, the WH boasted its recent policy on this issue, and on the latter the WH noted that Obama is against DOMA and that he indeed instructed his agencies to ignore the law.
