The Suffolk Poll suggests that if Republicans place US Florida Senator, Republican Marco Rubio on its ticket as VP, the ticket would beat Obama by five points, 46% vs. 41%. But if I read English alright, 45% Floridians have a favorable view of the President, while only 40% have a positive view of the nationally-liked Republican Senator. If so, how does adding Rubio help the Republican ticket?
Well, I found the answer in the next line of the poll. 48% Floridians have an unfavorable view of Obama while only 31% have this negative view on the Senator. More striking however is that 45% in Florida have a positive view of former Governor Crist, and a strong 64% like Secretary of State Clinton.
In the Republican Primary, Romney receives 25% support, Cain 24%; Undecided 20%; Gingrich 11; Perry 9%; Paul 5%; Bachman 1%.
