From the Florida Times Union: A U.S. Senate panel tasked with overseeing civil rights will hold a hearing in Florida regarding the state’s new election law.
U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D – Fla., requested the hearing, and fellow Democrat Dick Durbin, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee Constitution, Civil Rights, and Human Rights, agreed.
“I agree with you that, regardless of the stated intention, Florida’s new voting law will almost certainly disenfranchise a wide swath of the state’s young, minority, senior, disabled, rural, and low income voters,” Durbin wrote in a letter to Nelson.
