Ohio House Speaker, Gov Kasich Call for State GOP Chair to Resign

NTRO Reports: The Ohio House Speaker has blasted the state’s GOP chair and wants the GOP chair to resign.

Ohio’s House Speaker William Batchelder is joining Gov. John Kasich in calling for the resignation of the state’s Republican Party chairman Kevin DeWine.

Kasich had called for DeWine’s resignation after his victory over then-Gov. Ted Strickland in 2010.

In a memo Friday night to the House GOP caucus, Speaker William Batchelder wrote that Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine exhibited “questionable leadership tactics and poor decision making.”

Batchelder told the House GOP caucus members that chairman Kevin DeWine undermined Republican incumbents in 2010 by persuading donors not to contribute to their campaigns.

Dewine is also accused of refusing to lend party resources to incubents who faced primary challenges and for refusing to allow them access to party leadership meetings.

DeWine responded in an email to Batchelder that the accusations leveled against him are wrong.

He wrote he is disappointed Batchelder didn’t bring these concerns to him personally.
