NYS Civil Court Judge Noach Dear is seriously considering running for a seat to the NY State Senate. He already has done so in 2002, but he fell 909 votes short of winning. Instead, Kevin Parker won.
Now that Carl Kruger resigned due to corruption, an opening is in the works. The reported expectation is that Councilman Lewis Fidler will run for the open seat which will likely be up for a vote in a Special Election.
The winner of the expected Special Election will need to run for a full-term in November in a re-drawn map, which according to many public speculation may include a “Super Jewish District.” This district would consist of mostly Orthodox Jews residing in Borough Park and in the surrounding areas. If this indeed comes to life, Dear, age 59 – is telling some in his circle that he – will seriously consider jumping into the race even if it means challenge Fidler in the fall of 2012 if indeed Fidler wins the expected Special Election.
All in All: First we need a special election; a thing that Governor Cuomo has yet to announce. Then there needs to be a Super District; a thing that NYS GOP Chair Ed Cox told us in an interview a while ago is not something that he is aware is or is not taking place. Then Dear needs to decide that indeed he is running; something which is not conclusive at this time. Then of course an incumbent State Senator Fidler or say… Semicha Felder needs to run for the full term before Borough Park will once again see political fireworks.
