After Newt Tears, Romney Says “I Wont Cry” When Asked About his Parents

The 2012 Republican presidential hopeful talked about his deceased parents at a campaign stop in Merrimack, New Hampshire on Friday, but did not let his reflections become a sob story.

“I won’t cry,” said Romney after an audience member told him not to cry. “But I do, I do,” Romney quickly added. “Nothing to be ashamed of in that regard.”

Team Romney denied that the former Mass. governor was taking a jab at rival Newt Gingrich, who teared up earlier in the day in Iowa when asked about special moments with his mother.

“My mom and dad, were extraordinary people, and they both left this life and moved on,” Romney told the crowd.
