Former Erie County Executive Chris Collins (R), who lost reelection by a slim margin last November in part due to Governor Cuomo pumping in effort to remove a 2014 “threat,” is eyeing a run against Congresswoman Kathy Hochul in the 2012 election.
Hochul, a Democrat, won a special election last year late May defeating Jane Corwin. The usually reliable Republican district went the other way, and Collins is now weighing if he should make a run for it or not.
Some close to Collins believe he is already standing on the jumping board ready to move. However, those people caution that as long he is not taking the jump, he may walk off the platform and go home.
