A self proclaimed Tea Party activist group called “Stop Obama Now” based in San Diego has hired a sky ad company to fly a airplane towing a Banner with the words “Impeach Obama” written on it, in the area of the Super Bowl XLVI for three hours.
The group is offering a $50 Dollar reward for the best picture of the Banner, and $250 Dollars for the best video.
The following is from the groups website:
In this event a sky-banner reading “IMPEACH OBAMA!” will be towed in the area of the Super Bowl XLVI for three hours. This 46th Super Bowl game will be held at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 5, 2012. We are raising $2,000 for this event. Any funds left over after the banner is bought will be applied to the next event. Will let contributors know what the actual cost is, when the purchase is made.
Note: The FAA requires that aircraft stay at an altitude of at least 3,000 ft above such an event. Normal 5-7 foot banners cannot be read at that altitude. So, we will be flying the banner in the area around the stadium, over tailgate parties, downtown Indianapolis and along freeways before the game starts and before the flight restrictions are in place. The roof is retractable and is open, only if the weather is good. The kickoff is near sundown in any case, so there will not be much sunlight after the game starts, if the retractable roof is even open.
PHOTO/VIDEO CONTEST — $50 will be paid for the best photo of the banner and $250 for the best video of the banner over the stadium or surrounding area. The flight is scheduled for 12-3PM around the stadium before the game. You can contact sonsandiego@gmail.com to submit your entry. Winning images will be posted in blogs and on YouTube. Prefer the banner to be clearly readable and apparent that it is in the area of the stadium, but send whatever you get. Will post the news here when the banner is in the air.
Someone on the ground, a FB user, saw the “IMPEACH OBAMA NOW” banner overhead at about 1:30PM EST.
Amy C. Cook I saw it! It flew right above my house, and I wasn’t able to get a shot in. I am going to keep trying. There is not a cloud in the sky today, it’s a beautiful day!
